NSS AND AYAWASO WEST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY TO DEEPEN COLLABORATION FOR DEVELOPMENT

The management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) have began discussions for collaboration in revenue generation and sanitation.

As part of the collaboration the parties would explore innovative ways of putting their human resource to effective use so as to increase their revenue base.

The initiative would also see the two state agencies prioritise the deployment of the available human resource, including national service personnel, to help improve sanitation in the municipality.

This came to light when an 11-member delegation from the AWMA, paid a working visit to the Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Hon Assibey Antwi in his office.

The delegation, which was led by the Municipal Chief Executive of Ayawaso West, Hon Sandra Owusu Ahinkorah, came to congratulate Hon. Assibey Antwi on his appointment as the CEO of NSS.

The visit was also an opportunity for the team to learn about the innovative programmes the NSS introduced under its new mission.

In his welcome speech, Hon Assibey Antwi acknowledged the effort the executives of the Ayawaso West municipality was doing in terms of investment to drive development in the area.

He observed that it was never enough to be satisfied with the any level of development when vast opportunity to increase productivity still existed in the municipality.

The NSS Executive Director also indicated that it was refreshing to receive a welcome gesture from the MCE and the management of the municipal office.

“We are very happy to receive you in our office today and since the Scheme is headquartered in your municipality, we are more than ready to explore areas we can partner in a manner that will benefit both of us,” he said.

Hon. Ahinkorah, who was impressed about the developments, commended Hon. Assibey Antwi on the gains made within the short time as the Executive Director of NSS.

“I have always known him to be a man of great ideas, I know he is smart but for what we have seen and heard, I together with my people are super proud to witness what you have been able to do here at NSS,” she confessed.
